There are a lot of people who operate under the assumption that doing a lot of something is better for you than doing little things. This is completely false. This way of thinking is rarely applied to the meals we eat, but we have an ingrained belief that more is better in a variety of situations in our daily lives.
However, when it comes to the consistency of meditation practiced throughout time, this is not always the case. When it comes to the benefits of meditation, people who believe that they will reap the benefits of others who meditate consistently but for shorter amounts of time may find themselves missing out on these benefits in the long run.
Even though all types of meditation can be beneficial, it is a constant practice that provides the best chance of producing long-term results. Even a short length of time each day, such as five minutes, can have more long-lasting effects on one's health than a weekly session of twenty minutes of meditation.
In our brains, the regular generation of chemicals, such as the gamma waves that promote neuroplasticity and are stimulated by meditation, boosts the effectiveness of the chemicals in our brains.
It is true that longer meditations have their benefits; nevertheless, if you want to see long-term changes in your life as a result of your meditation practice, it is best to maintain a continuous practice. When you take even a few minutes out of your day to clear your thoughts, you will definitely find it easier to retain the same level of calm when confronted with a potentially stressful situation.

A daily practice of continuous meditation allows us to remain adaptive and objective throughout the day. This also gives us the reassurance in the knowledge that we are always close by in case we need to escape to a peaceful sanctuary at any moment during the day.
When we meditate, we can better cope with emotional or mental obstacles and preserve our equilibrium, regardless of whether we do so for an hour or ten minutes every day or for the rest of our life!
